4 Lynx Players Officially Named To Olympic Team

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Four members of the Minnesota Lynx were named to the USA women's basketball Olympic team.

As reported by WCCO's David McCoy yesterday, Lindsay Whalen, Seimone Augustus, Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore were all named to the team on Wednesday.

There are 12 members of the team in total, and the Lynx make up a third of them.

This represents the highest number of Lynx players on an Olympic team to date. The previous record was three.

"It's extremely exciting to have another opportunity to play with the best players in the world," Moore said.

This will be Moore's and Whalen's second Olympics, and the third for Fowles and Augustus.

The United States has won gold in every Olympics since 1996, which means the team with five Lynx will be looking to make it six in a row.
