Minnesota Lawmaker To Step Down And Focus On Microbrewery

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesota lawmaker is stepping away from politics to follow his love of beer.

Rep. Mark Anderson, R-Lake Shore, announced Tuesday that he will not seek a third term in order to focus on the three businesses he runs with his wife, Barb.

One of those businesses is Gull Dam Brewing in Nisswa.

Anderson represented District 9A for four years, which includes Cass, Todd and Wadena counties. He will finish out his current term.

The announcement says Anderson is "an advocate for responsible spending, business growth," and is a "strong supporter of the Second Amendment."

Anderson is also described as a "professional pilot … with a black belt in karate."

His father, Don Anderson, was a Minnesota Senator from 1982 until 1990.
