Minnesota, Kill Reach 1-Year Contract Extension Through 2019

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota coach Jerry Kill has agreed to a one-year contract extension, through the 2019 season.

The deal was announced Friday by the university. Terms weren't immediately available.

Kill starts his fifth year on the job with a 25-26 record that includes losses in all three bowl games the Gophers have gone to under his watch. They've finished 8-5 the last two seasons, though. Highlights of 2014 included their second win over Michigan since 1986, a second straight victory over Nebraska and a 5-3 Big Ten record that was their best since 2003.

The last enhancement to Kill's contract was made 18 months ago. He was scheduled to make $2.2 million this year.
