Minnesota Group Buys Ohio's Defiance Publishing

DEFIANCE, Ohio (AP) — A Minnesota-based publishing group has purchased Defiance Publishing Company from Dix Communications in Ohio.

Adams Publishing Group LLC of suburban Minneapolis says in a statement Wednesday that the publishing company in Defiance will become part of its APG Media of Ohio. Adams' Ohio group is based in Athens.

Defiance Publishing in northwest Ohio has 56 employees and publishes The Crescent-News six days a week. The newspaper formerly owned and operated by Wooster-based Dix Communications has a distribution of 14,000 on weekdays and 15,300 on Sundays. Steve VanDemark will continue as the newspaper's publisher.

Defiance Publishing also publishes the Crescent-Extra weekly shopper, Northwest Ohio Homes Magazine and Northwest Ohio Auto Book.

Adams Publishing produces community newspapers, specialty magazines and other products in Wyoming, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maryland, Idaho, Michigan and Ohio.
