Minnesota GOP Gather For Convention In Duluth This Weekend

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Republicans will be taking over Duluth this weekend.

The GOP kicks off its two-day state convention on Friday. Business includes choosing delegates to the national convention in Cleveland in July.

Also look for the party to try to boost its favored candidates in a pair of closely watched congressional campaigns. Radio talk host Jason Lewis has the GOP endorsement in a primary for retiring Rep. John Kline's southern Minnesota seat. And businessman Stewart Mills is mounting another effort to knock off Democratic Rep. Rick Nolan in northeastern Minnesota.

Participants will also consider backing a candidate for the Minnesota Supreme Court, as well as platform issues.
