Minnesota Firefighters To Search For 2 Hikers

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A team of firefighters from the Minneapolis area is heading to the Colorado mountains to search for two hikers from Minnesota who've been missing since April.

Fifty-one-year-old Damian McManus and his 18-year-old son Evan McManus, both of St. Louis Park, were least heard from April 2 when they went to Mount Evans for a spring break hike. Authorities found their car in the parking lot at the base of the mountain.

Snowy conditions on the rugged terrain made the search dangerous, and rescue teams called off the search after a week.

Family spokeswoman Andrea Bouzara says they're going to start a last push Tuesday to recover the remains. She says four firefighters from St. Louis Park, Edina and Eden Prairie have volunteered to go.
