Minnesota May Be On Verge Of Drought

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Almost the entire state of Minnesota is abnormally dry, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

More than 98 percent of the state is on the verge of a moderate drought, which is a 20 percent increase from last week.

Less than 25 percent of the state was in that range back in October.

Brian Fuchs from the National Drought Mitigation Center reports that five percent of the state is in an actual drought, which is affecting more than 96,000 Minnesotans.

This is the driest it's been in Minnesota since April of 2013.
