Minnesota Adds Philadelphia Prep Wing To Recruiting Class

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota has added Philadelphia prep standout Ahmad Gilbert to its recruiting class.

The Golden Gophers announced that Gilbert signed a national letter of intent on Tuesday. Gilbert averaged 17.6 points, 11 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game for Constitution High School. Last year he helped lead Constitution to its third state championship in four years.

Minnesota coach Richard Pitino says he wanted to add size on the perimeter this year. The 6-foot-6 Gilbert fits that mold. Pitino says Gilbert has the ability to guard multiple positions, shoot the 3-pointer and has "a very bright future."

Gilbert is the sixth member of the 2015 class. The Gophers have one scholarship available for next seaso
