Minnesota Adds Auburn Transfer, Former DeLaSalle Standout

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota women's basketball team has added another in-state player.

Sophomore guard Allina Starr has decided to transfer from Auburn. The 5-foot-10 former star at DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis can begin practicing with the Gophers immediately, but per NCAA rules she must sit out of competition until after the 2015 fall semester. Starr will then have three years of remaining eligibility.

Starr helped lead DeLaSalle to three state championships from 2011 to 2013. She was named second team all-state by The Associated Press as a senior for the Islanders, who went 115-20 during her five-year career.

Starr appeared in 20 games for Auburn, averaging 2.5 assists.
