Minneapolis VA Clinic Resuming Operations Friday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Officials said the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs clinic will resume operations on Friday after a sterilization issue closed the facility earlier this week.

The clinic had to be closed after officials found a suspicious substance in sterilizers that get medical instruments ready for surgery. A full evaluation of that substance showed it was a residual of a cleaning product that had not been completely rinsed. Officials say the sterilizers have since been inspected and certified as ready to use by their manufacturer.

Officials say the Minneapolis VA will return to a full operating room schedule on Friday. VA officials say it was a one-time event and patients at the clinic were never at risk.
