Minneapolis, St. Paul officially end winter parking restrictions

Minneapolis, St. Paul officially end winter parking restrictions

MINNEAPOLIS – The Twin Cities have ended their winter parking restrictions, two days earlier than scheduled.

The mild weather has melted away a lot of the snowpack in the metro, leading Minneapolis to lift its restrictions that were first set on Jan. 25.

St. Paul's one-side parking ban went into effect on March 10. Both cities lifted their restrictions Wednesday at 8 a.m.

The restrictions were launched in order to create more space on roadways, especially residential streets, for emergency vehicles to pass.

Even though the restrictions will soon be gone, a rare late March or April snow emergency is always a possibility. Click here for Minneapolis' snow emergency rules, and click here for St. Paul's rules.
