MSP Airport dealing with cancellations, delays Wednesday from heavy snowfall

A big swath of Minnesota and Wisconsin is dealing with several inches of heavy snow on Wednesday, with crews busy at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport trying to keep things running smoothly on this NEXT Weather Alert day.

As of 7 p.m., departing flights are being delayed by about a half hour, according to FlightAware.

For arrivals, 33 have been canceled and 149 have been delayed.

For departures, 31 were canceled and 224 were delayed.

The National Weather Service says about 9.5 inches of snow has fallen in the metro.

Thousands in the Twin Cities were without power and hundreds of schools were also closed or delayed.

NEXT Drive Alert was also in effect due to the hazardous road conditions that caused dozens of crashes. Metro Transit and the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority also temporality suspended all bus service, which resumed just before 10 a.m.
