Get Ready, Here Come The Street Sweepers

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Among the many signs of spring -- springing forward on your alarm clocks, the Twins home opener -- there is one that occasionally catches some unhappily off-guard.

That's right, it's time to make way for the street sweepers to clean away an entire winter's worth of dirt, sand and salt residue.

The city announced it would commence with the spring cleaning on Wednesday, weather allowing.

Minneapolis officials said there would be prominent "no parking" signs posted everywhere at least 24 hours in advance of the time vehicles have to move to allow for the sweepers to move through.

Beyond the signs, automated phone calls and updates on the city's interactive tool will also serve to keep motorists aware of where they can and can't park as the sweepers clear away the detritus that's so last season.
