Minneapolis Releases Archive Of Historic Images Online

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- History buffs, pay attention!

The City of Minneapolis is making hundreds of historic images and archives available for online viewing – with some pictures dating back to the 1800s.

Historic images and materials from the Minneapolis Archives collections are now available on the Minneapolis Archives Flickr page. Pictures include various construction projects, blueprints, aerial views, various safety demonstrations and more.

According to Minneapolis officials, the page will be updated regularly as the clerk's office continues to assess and digitize its archival holdings.

"Visitors to the page are encouraged to comment and add any historical knowledge they may have related to the images to better identify the materials posted and provide any historical context," the city said in a statement.

The Minneapolis City Clerk's Office – along with help from the Urban Scholars summer internship program – digitized the images.
