1 dead, 2 hurt in south Minneapolis shooting

One man is dead and two other men are hurt after a shooting overnight Friday in south Minneapolis, according to police

Officers were called just after 12:30 a.m. to the area of Franklin and Chicago avenues. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other victims — one in their 40s and one in their 50s — were taken to Hennepin Healthcare for treatment. The extent of their injuries is unclear.

Police Chief Brian O'Hara says the men "were on a sidewalk when at least one person opened fire before fleeing in a vehicle."

Investigators are still searching for the shooter or shooters, as well as working to determine what led up to the deadly attack.

"This is a tragic and deeply disturbing act of violence that has taken a life, and left others seriously injured," O'Hara said.
