Minneapolis City Officials Call For Repairs On 10th Ave Bridge

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis plans to ask for money to help fix a bridge that links the University of Minnesota's East and West Bank campuses.

The 10th Avenue Southeast bridge, which crosses the Mississippi River, would cost $42.5 million to repair. City officials plan to ask the state legislature for $32 million to complete the project.

The proposed repairs would lengthen the life of the 86-year-old bridge by 40 years. Lack of city funding delayed the project, which was supposed to be done by this year.

City officials are looking to complete the project by 2018.
