Minneapolis Bans E-Cigarettes In All Indoor Public Places

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – People who use electronic cigarettes in Minneapolis will have to head outside.

The city announced Friday that it's updating its Clean Indoor Act ordinance, banning the use of e-cigarettes in all indoor public places as well as places of employment.

City officials said the ban is going into effect immediately. Public places like stores, restaurants and places of employment can be fined for allowing the use of e-cigarettes.

To prevent any confusion about where e-cigarettes can and can't be used, the Minneapolis Health Department will post window decals in restaurants, businesses and other areas where the devices are not allowed.

Minneapolis joins Bloomington, Duluth, Edina, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles as cities that have a ban on e-cigarettes.
