Minn. Truck Driver Killed In Md. Crash

HANCOCK, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Police say two men are dead and a woman is seriously injured after a wrong-way collision on eastbound Interstate 70 near Hancock.

Police say 35-year-old Mohamud Ali of Eagan, Minnesota, died after the tractor-trailer he was driving hit a passenger car traveling west in the eastbound lanes about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. The truck then hit a bridge abutment.

A passenger in the car, 22-year-old James Benge of Fruitland, Maryland, also died in the crash.

His mother, 57-year-old Kim Benge of Fruitland, was driving the car. She's being treated at Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

The truck was hauling grapes. Police say they expect to reopen the eastbound lanes by 2 p.m., nearly 12 hours after the crash.
