Minn. Surgeon Pleads Guilty To Murder Of Foster Son

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Benedict, Minn. man was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to attempting to suffocate his foster son Friday.

Dennis James Sullivan was charged with second-degree attempted murder, and first-and third-degree assault charges.

Sullivan pleaded guilty to attempted first degree assault on Aug. 25.

Officials said he attempted to suffocate his foster child by placing a latex glove in the child's airway.

A Hubbard County judge sentenced Sullivan to 43 months, or roughly three and a half years, in prison.
