Minn. Senate's Assistant Majority Leader To Retire
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Senate Assistant Majority Leader Katie Sieben says she won't seek another term.
Sieben becomes the sixth DFLer in the chamber to announce plans to retire this year, joining Sens. James Metzen, Barb Goodwin, Roger Reinert, Kathy Sheran and Bev Scalze.
Sieben, of Newport, has been in the Legislature for 14 years, including two terms in the House before she was elected to the Senate. She is a second-generation legislator after her father Mike, who served in the House.
Democrats hold a 12-seat advantage in the Senate pending a special election in February for a vacant north suburban seat. Republicans control the state House.
