Minn. Man Faces Federal Charges For Gas Station Robbery

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A man accused of ambushing an armored truck guard at a St. Paul, Minn. gas station is now facing federal charges.

Christopher Ward was charged this week with robbery in a theft caught on surveillance cameras.

It happened at a SuperAmerica on Jan. 14, 2011.

Police say Ward confronted a guard while he was filling the ATM.

He stripped the guard of his weapon, grabbed the cash box and got away with $70,000.

The guard was not hurt.
