Man, 60, Dies Trying To Help Kids In Lake

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 60-year-old man died while trying to rescue some children from a northern Minnesota lake.

The man jumped from his paddle boat into Lake Nichols in Canyon Friday afternoon, but never resurfaced.

He was not wearing a life jacket.

Neighbors who tried to rescue the man found him after he had been underwater for 30 minutes.

They performed CPR, but were not able to save him.

The man's name has not been released.

The sheriff's office says no children were hurt.
