Minn. Lawmaker To Work For Medical Marijuana Manufacturer

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A state lawmaker who advocated for Minnesota's medical marijuana law is now working for one of state's medical marijuana manufacturers.

Rep. Dan Schoen will be a security consultant for LeafLine Labs. He is taking a leave from his job as a police officer in Cottage Grove, where the company built its production facility.

The Democrat co-authored the legislation and helped connect LeafLine with city officials in his district.

This is the second high-profile hire by LeafLine that is raising questions of impropriety. In June, the company hired Manny Munson-Regala, the assistant commissioner for the Minnesota Department of Health. He worked to get medical marijuana off the ground in Minnesota.

Schoen is not saying what the company is paying him.
