Minn. Deputy Shoots, Wounds Armed-Robbery Suspect

MORRIS, Minn. (AP) -- A deputy in western Minnesota has shot and wounded a man suspected of armed robbery.

The Swift County sheriff's office says the 55-year-old was taken to a hospital. His condition wasn't immediately known.

Deputies say Appleton police and the Swift County sheriff's office spotted a vehicle linked to an armed robbery that had taken place a short time earlier in Morris.

A news release says authorities stopped the vehicle Saturday just before 1 a.m. in rural Swift County. The statement doesn't what prompted the deputy to open fire.

The unnamed suspect was the only person in the vehicle. No one else was injured.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the shooting.
