Minn. Arboretum Offers Free Gate Admission In Jan.

CHANHASSEN, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is offering free gate admission every day in January.

Visitors who want to stay warm can view a 25-foot-tall tree covered with orchids in the Visitor Center Great Hall.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the arboretum located in Chanhassen features 16 miles of trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

On Jan. 17, "Minnesota Magic," an art exhibit featuring watercolors and oils created by arboretum members, opens in Reedy Gallery. The exhibit runs through March 31.

Kids can "Cozy up to a Cactus" during Weekend Family Fun at the Learning Center every Saturday and Sunday afternoon in January for free.

The arboretum is part of the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Minnesota.
