Meyer Will Replace May For Twins At Futures Game

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins will send top pitching prospect Alex Meyer to the Futures Game at the All-Star events at Target Field next week.

MLB announced Monday that Meyer will replace fellow right-hander and Triple-A Rochester teammate Trevor May at the exhibition Sunday. May has been out for more than a week with a strained right calf muscle.

May was an injury-replacement pick for the U.S. team himself. Other Twins prospects on the World team roster are right-handed pitcher Jose Berrios and first baseman Kennys Vargas.

Meyer was acquired from Washington in the Denard Span trade, and May came in the deal with Philadelphia for Ben Revere.

Meyer has a 3.46 ERA with 93 strikeouts in 83 1-3 innings. May has a 2.94 ERA with 81 strikeouts in 79 2-3 innings.
