Metro Transit Police Seek Suspects In Assault, Robbery Of U Of M Student

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in Minneapolis are seeking two suspects accused of assaulting and robbing a University of Minnesota student Tuesday afternoon.

According to Metro Transit police, shortly after 4 p.m. officers responded to a report of an assault and robbery on the east bound side of the Stadium Village Light Rail Transit Station, located near the intersection of University Avenue and 23rd Avenue SE.

The report states the victim, who is a U of M student, was arguing with two people while riding an eastbound Light Rail train.

When the victim exited the train at the Stadium Village Station, the two suspects got off as well. They assaulted the victim and stole the victim's cellphone.

The suspects then fled eastbound on University Avenue.

The victim was injured and needed medical attention. The extent of the victim's injuries is unknown.
