Crews Battle Fire At Historic Church In Melrose

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A fire broke out Friday night at a historic church in central Minnesota.

Fire crews were called to the Church of St. Mary's in Melrose just before 5 p.m. According to the St. Cloud Times, the fire appears to have started on the west end of the building. It's not clear yet what caused the fire.

A church maintenance worker told the paper the boiler room, electrical panels and kitchen are below the area where the fire may have started.

The building dates back to the 1890s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
