Meet The 2014 Klondike Kate: Kathy Rustin-Westphal

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The St. Paul Winter Carnival kicks off in just a few weeks, and now there's a new Klondike Kate to help get things started.

Kathy Rustin-Westphal of St. Paul Park was crowned the winner among six competitors at an event Wednesday night. Judges rated their singing, crowd appeal, and how much they embodied the real-life dance-hall girl's character.

Rustin-Westphal will serve as the Winter Carnival's official mistress of fun. This year's festivities start two weeks from Thursday.

She joined the WCCO This Morning Show on Thursday to talk about the honor and the St. Paul Winter Carnival. She also stopped in at WCCO Radio. Never the wallflower, this year's St. Paul Winter Carnival Klondike Kate says she's ready to go.
