Medical Examiner: North Mpls. Artist Died Of 'Complex Homicidal Violence'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Susan Spiller, the 68-year-old resident of north Minneapolis who was found dead in her home last week, died of "complex homicidal violence," according to a report by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

Police are still investigating the incident, but they did say they believe someone broke into the home and murdered Spiller.

Spiller was a prominent local artist, working mostly with glass. She also served on the board of the Lind-Bohanon Neighborhood Association and was a member Northside Arts Collective. Friends and neighbors say she was central to the creation of the Lind Community Garden.

On Sunday, friends, neighbors and concerned citizens marched in the neighborhood to honor Spiller's senseless killing, and "take back their streets."
