McNally Smith To Stage Winter Jazz Blast Jan. 24 In St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — High school jazz bands from across the region will perform for each other at the third annual Winter Jazz Blast at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul.

The noncompetitive festival offers high school musicians a chance to perform onstage for their peers, receive critiques from professional musicians, attend clinics and record in McNally Smith's studio complex.

Winter Jazz Blast ends with a public concert on Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. in the History Theatre, located on McNally Smith's downtown St. Paul campus.

Jazz trumpeter Ingrid Jensen will perform. Other performers include the McNally Smith Jazz Orchestra, Hornheads Tribute and Jazz II ensembles.

Concert tickets cost $5 per student and $15 per adult, and are available online or at the door.
