Mayor Hodges Makes State Of The City Address For Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges laid out her plan Thursday to improve public safety, education initiatives and environmental impacts in the city.

But she said it can't be done without community help. Hodges made her State of the City address Thursday afternoon at the American Swedish Institute.

She announced new and ongoing initiatives focused on growing the community. They include using mentors and graduation coaches, improving income inequality, growing start-up businesses and improving infrastructure.

"We are booming and we are growing. At the heart of our success lies our public investment in the public good, building the city people choose to invest in," Hodges said.

Mayor Hodges also launched the Minneapolis Climate Champs Challenge. Each month, she'll share different ways to help the environment. People can share what they're doing on social media.
