Joe Mauer Named AL Player Of The Week

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Not much has gone right for the Twins this season, but one bright spot has been the performance of Joe Mauer.

Now, Mauer's been rewarded for his improved play. The MLB announced Tuesday that Mauer has been named AL Player of the Week.

Mauer hit a home run in three straight games last week, and had four homers overall. He batted .440, scored seven runs, had seven RBIs and 23 total bases.

This is Mauer's third time winning the award. He last won it in 2009.

The Twins went 4-2 last week, sweeping the Seattle Mariners and going 1-2 against the reigning World Series champions, the Kansas City Royals.
