March Trivia

Whether it feels like it outside, spring comes this month and for some people that means time for spring cleaning and preparing gardens. But more importantly, this month many people switch to Daylight Savings time and lose an hour in the night. And that can mean some people lose an hour of sleep and are more prone to traffic accidents and general grumpiness.

March is named after Mars, the Roman god of war. There was no fighting during winter so March was the start of the year for soldiers (and thus for all Romans).

The birth flower for March is the Daffodil. The modern birthstone is Aquamarine (beauty, loyalty, happiness and honesty) and the traditional birthstone is Bloodstone (endurance).
