Man's Body Found In Open Field In Faribault

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities in southern Minnesota are investigating after a worker in an industrial area found the body of an adult male Tuesday in an open field.

Faribault Police officers were called to the open field south of 30th Street NW and Industrial Drive at about 1:47 p.m. Tuesday after the man was found lying in the snow. When officers arrived, the man was pronounced dead.

He was later identified as 23-year-old Cody Alan Simon. Authorities say he had been working and living in Faribault for the last six to seven months. He was formerly from Marion, Iowa.

Simon's family has been notified and an investigation is ongoing to determine his death.

Footprints in snow show that Simon walked to the location where he was found.

Police said when they found him, there were no obvious signs of trauma. Police are also investigating if recent extreme cold was a factor in his death.
