Mankato Man Arrested, Child Abuse Charges Pending

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police arrested a Mankato man Tuesday night after officials say an investigation showed he might have abused two young children.

A report on the city's website says officers arrested 36-year-old Michael Bauer following an investigation conducted by the city and Blue Earth County child protection services.

The results showed that Bauer had two children under the age of 5 in his care overnight Monday. When their mother returned the next day, she found bruises on the children.

The city says two counts of malicious punishment of a child and one count of first-degree sexual conduct have been requested in the case.

Bauer is being held in the Blue Earth County Jail, pending formal charges.
