MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The man who died after falling through the ice at Sunset Pond in Burnsville has been identified.

On Monday afternoon, the man fell through the ice on the pond, which is located near the intersection of County Road 42 and Burnsville Parkway. Burnsville fire crews responded and were able to remove the man from the water.

He was brought to a hospital, where he died around 5 p.m. Tuesday. His body was brought to a medical examiner's office for an autopsy, officials say.

On Wednesday, the victim was identified as 43-year-old Brett Alan Stroud.
