Man Takes Metro Police On 30-Min., Multi-City Chase

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A man suspected of driving under the influence took police on a half-hour, multi-city chase early Saturday morning, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

A deputy attempted to pull over a 26-year-old driver at about 3 a.m. near Interstate 94 and Hemlock Lane in Maple Grove.

The suspect initially slowed his vehicle, but then sped off. The chase went as far as St. Paul, but eventually ended at about 3:30 a.m. near County 81 and 36th Avenue in Crystal.

Police used the PIT maneuver to cause the suspect's car to spin out. The man was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.

The Minnesota State Patrol and the police departments of Maple Grove, Crystal, St. Paul and Robbinsdale assisted the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office during the incident.
