Man, 41, Shot Dead In N. Mpls. After Apparent Bus Argument

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 41-year-old man was shot and killed Thursday evening in north Minneapolis. It's the second violent incident in the area in the past week.

Police say the fatal shooting happened near Penn Avenue North and North 26th Avenue just before 7 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a 41-year-old man had been shot and killed. Police say there is no suspect in custody, and they don't believe the crime was random.

Witnesses say the incident likely stemmed from a verbal altercation on a bus. Coincidentally, the bus driver was apparently related to the victim and performed CPR on him at the scene.

This is the third homicide on the north side this month, and it happens just one day before extra officers will start patrolling the area.

Soon after the shooting, a man was shot just blocks away near North 24th Avenue and Lyndale Avenue North. Police say the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, and the two shooting are likely not related.

Anyone with information is asked to call Minneapolis Police at 612-692-8477.
