Man Killed In North Mpls. Fire Identified

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Hennepin County officials have identified the man who died in a north Minneapolis fire Thursday night.

Fire crews responded to the 4000 block of Russell Ave. N. at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday on a report of a fire. When firefighters arrived, they were able to extinguish the fire quickly. During a search of the home, crews found two victims inside.

Crews located an 82-year-old man, who was wheelchair bound, in the front bedroom. He was brought outside where crews performed CPR on him. They could not resuscitate and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

On Monday, the Hennepin County Medical Center identified the man as Arthur Dilworth of Minneapolis, and determined he died of smoke inhalation due to the house fire.

A 62-year-old woman was also found in the home. She was taken to a local hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire damaged the entire first floor and basement of the one-story home.

Authorities said the fire appeared to have started in the living room, but an exact cause has not been determined.
Minneapolis fire and police departments are investigating.
