Man Killed In Bus Crash Was Attempting To Help Driver

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — Duluth police say the passenger who was killed in a transit bus crash was rushing to help the driver as the vehicle careened out of control.

Authorities say 53-year-old Michael Mooney died when the Duluth Transit Authority bus crashed on April 14.

Police reviewed surveillance video, interviewed those involved and determined Mooney rushed from the back of the bus to the front as the driver suffered an apparent medical emergency.

Investigators say the driver has lost control, causing the bus to hit another bus and crash into a concrete barrier. Nine bus passengers were treated at a local hospital. A 58-year-old woman remains hospitalized in critical condition.
