Man Injured In Officer-Involved Shooting In Medina

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 23-year-old man was shot and a police officer was injured at a Medina motel Thursday afternoon.

According to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened at about 12:30 p.m. at the Ling-Inn Motel on the 2300 block of Highway 55.

Medina Police received a call about a suicidal person at the motel. When they arrived, they encountered a man who had a knife, and officers opened fire.

Donald Kalib John Nihols was taken to an area hospital with unspecified injuries. An officer also suffered unspecified injures, and was treated at the scene.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
