Man In Custody After Girlfriend Shot In Western Wis.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 48-year-old woman is in critical condition and her 52-year-old boyfriend is in custody after a shooting early Saturday morning in western Wisconsin, according to the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities were called to Ray Jay's Restaurant at about 1:40 a.m. Saturday after the suspect, identified as Kerry Stevenson, walked into the restaurant screaming with blood on him. The caller said Stevenson was at the restaurant earlier that night and was afraid that something had happened to his girlfriend.

Authorities learned he had discharged a gun in or near his truck in Round Lake, Wis., and his girlfriend was shot. The victim, who is from New York, was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to her head and is currently in critical condition.

Stevenson, of Louisiana, was taken into custody and is currently in the Sawyer County Jail for felon in possession of a firearm and is awaiting charges connected to the shooting.

Authorities said the incident is still under investigation.
