Man In Custody After Attempted Robbery, High-Speed Chase In Swift County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A man is in custody after an alleged attempted robbery at a Swift County bar Tuesday and an ensuing high-speed chase, according to a statement from police.

The Swift County Sheriff's office says 35-year-old Michael Reiten walked into Brinks Beer Joint in Swift Falls, Minnesota, ordered a beer from the waitress and told her to give him, "all the money," though he didn't show her a weapon. Officers say the waitress was scared, but didn't comply with his demands. Reiten then finished his beer and left.

Authorities say Pope County officers later saw the suspect vehicle traveling at a high speed near Glenwood.

Reiten was arrested the following day in Alexandria and is now facing eight charges, including fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, second degree assault and taking a motor vehicle without the owner's consent.
