Man Taken Into Custody After Standoff At Brooklyn Park Hotel
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (WCCO) -- A Brooklyn Park hotel had to be evacuated because a man barricaded himself inside, possibly with a gun.
It happened at the La Quinta Inn on Northland Circle. Police got a call about a domestic situation around 3:30 a.m. A woman said she was assaulted and threatened with a gun by her boyfriend.
When officers got there, the man wouldn't come out of the room.
The SWAT team and crisis negotiators were called in and negotiated with him for about two and a half hours before he surrendered peacefully.
Guests at the hotel had to be away from their rooms for about six hours.

"A little after 4, we had to start evaluating the hotel for safety of the public. The guests were really good about it. We tried to find place for them to stay while we resolved this and we got them back as soon as we could into the hotel," Deputy Mark Bruley said.
The suspect was arrested and is being held for two counts of assault.
