Man Gets 120 Days In Jail For Tweeting Threats After Speeding Ticket
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A South St. Paul man was sentenced Wednesday to about four months in jail for making threats to law enforcement officers via Twitter after getting a speeding ticket two years ago.
A judge in Dakota County sentenced 21-year-old Harrison William Rund, 21, to 120 days in jail on a count of felony threats of violence, to which Rund pleaded guilty in November.
The charge stemmed from an incident in February 2014, when Rund made multiple threats to kill officers with South St. Paul police and the State Patrol following a traffic stop where he was issued a speeding ticket.
As part of his sentence, Rund will be on probation for three years and has to pay a fine of $300.
Late on Wednesday, the Dakota County Attorney said he'll be filing an appeal on the sentence.
