State Patrol: Man Dies In Murray County Motorcycle Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 49-year-old man died Thursday in a motorcycle crash in southwestern Minnesota, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities responded to a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a pick-up truck at about 10:10 a.m. Thursday on Highway 59 at 30th Street in Murray County. When officers arrived, a 1974 Chevy pick-up truck and a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle were both heading northbound on Highway 59. The truck slowed to make a left hand turn onto 30th Street, and the motorcyclist rear-ended the truck.

Authorities say the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by authorities as John R. Spiegelhoff. The driver of the truck, a 68-year-old Slayton man, was not hurt in the crash.

The State Patrol is investigating the crash with assistance from the Murray County Sheriff's Office.
