Man Convicted Of Murder In Brooklyn Center Motel Parking Lot

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - A Hennepin County jury has convicted a 27-year-old Minneapolis man of shooting to death another man in the parking lot of a Brooklyn Center motel.

Antonio Daniels was found guilty Friday afternoon of second-degree murder and manslaughter.

Michael McGowan, 25, was killed on Aug. 22, 2013, in the parking lot of the Days Inn on James Circle N.

Witnesses told police that Daniels and McGowan were among the men involved in a fist fight.

Daniels pulled out a gun and shot McGowan in the chest.

McGowan collapsed in the entryway of the adjacent Super 8 Motel, where police found him around 3:30 a.m.

Daniels claimed he shot McGowan in self-defense, but the jury did not accept the explanation.

He will be sentenced on April 3.
