Man Charged With Waving BB Gun In Road Rage Incident

HASTINGS, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 27-year-old West St. Paul, Minn. man faces two felony counts stemming from a road rage incident earlier this month.

According to the complaint, Joshua Thomas Tipcke is accused of pointing a gun at the driver of another vehicle the evening of April 1.

The other driver said that Tipcke cut him off near Interstate 35E and Cliff Road, so he honked his horn and gestured. That's when Tipcke allegedly searched around in the vehicle and pulled alongside the other driver, pointing a firearm at him.

Police responded to an apartment complex where Tipcke had been seen. Eventually they established contact with him and were able to talk him into surrendering. He admitted to waving a BB gun at the other driver.

Officers found the firearm hidden inside a jacket inside a washing machine in the building.

Tipcke, who has previously been convicted on two domestic violence counts, now faces felony counts of making terroristic threats and fifth-degree assault.
