Man Charged With Mailing Threatening Letters

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 45-year-old man was indicted for allegedly mailing threatening letters to courthouse officials Thursday.

Johnnie Earl Long, of Braham, was charged with six counts of mailing threatening communications and one count of false information and hoaxes.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Long allegedly mailed a number of threatening letters to officials at the Pine County Courthouse.

The letters contained a white powder, which was suggested to be deadly.

Officials said it was later found that the powder was harmless.

If guilty, Long faces a maximum of five years in prison for each threat count and five years for the false information.
